Miami Beach Cadets visit Miami International Airport.

22 MAR 2013 - Miami, FL. --

11 Cadets and 3 Senior Members from the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. visited the Miami International Airport for a behind the scenes tour this past Friday. The Cadets explored the ramps, the airport fire department station and witnessed the many different aspects of aviation related work involved in running this multi-billion dollar facility. As a treat, they got up and personal with the Boeing Dream Lifter parked on the north ramp of the field.

On Saturday, 02 March 2013, supported by Group HQ, Group 7 CAC hosted the inaugural Cadet Officers' Workshop which provided a forum for the group's elite cadets to dialogue directly with the senior leadership of the wing's Cadet Programs.

FLORIDA – Eighteen Florida Wing pilots completed newly reformulated Garmin G1000 glass cockpit ground training Jan. 12-13, marking a first not only because of the new coursework but also because the session was conducted as a joint training mission hosted by Groups 6 and 7 and supported by check pilots and instructor pilots from those two groups and Group 5 as well.

08/12/2012 - Opa Locka Airport , FL. --

On Sunday, 12 AUG 2012, the two newest Cadets from the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. took to the sky. As part of their Aerospace Education curriculum, CAP Cadets get the opportunity to fly at the controls of CAP single engine aircraft. The purpose is to familiarize them with the world of aviation via a hands-on experience as well as a complement to their classroom learning environment. C/Amn Tatiana Jean-Francois and C/AB Kelmerl Jimenez completed their first O-ride and were very excited as a result.

On Saturday, 11 AUG 2012, Cadets representing 5 Group 7 Squadrons met for the third annual CAC Voleyball tournament. Opa Locka Cadet Sqdn. achieved first place, with second place going to Enterprise Cadet Sqdn and third to Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. A great day of fun, fair play and pizza lunch. Many thanks to the Cadet Advisory Council and the Gp7 Cadet Programs Staff for a great activity.

5/26/2012 - Miami Springs , FL. --

On Saturday, 26 May 2012, Twenty‐two members from throughout Group 7 attended a communications user course this Memorial Day weekend, toward completion of the Radio Operators Authorization (ROA) and Mission Radio Operator (MRO) specialties. The goal of the event was the advancement of communications knowledge and training of the members, in service and support of CAP’s missions. The course, hosted by Miami Springs Cadet Squadron, attracted cadets and seniors from Miami Beach Cadet Squadron and Enterprise Cadet Squadron in addition to the members from the host unit.

On Saturday, 19 May 2012, twenty-seven cadets of the Opa Locka Cadet Squadron completed a public speaking course sponsored by Toastmasters International and moderated by Hugh O. Stewart, Coordinator for the Youth Development Program of the Toast of Las Olas Toastmasters Club.

Miami Beach Cadets visit the USS Wasp [LHD-1] - 29 April 2012.

4/29/2012 - Ft. Lauderdale , FL. --

Seven members of the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn had the opportunity to visit the USS Wasp (LHD-1) while at the Port of Fort Lauderdale for this year's Air and Sea Show and Fleet Week. Cadets were able to visit the entire ship to include the lower decks where the LCAC is deployed, and the flight deck operations area for this impressive vessel. Many thanks to the US Navy for their tour.

Miami Beach Cadets attend Titusville County Airshow - 10 Mar 2012.

3/10/2012 - Titusville , FL. --
Eight members of the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. attended this year's Valiant Air Command airshow in Titusville, FL on 10 March 2012. There we were able to get close and personal with neat historical aircraft such as several B-25 Mitchell Bombers, the only operational B-29, a couple of DC3/C-47s, C-130, F14 and even a fly-by of a B2 Spirit!

Airman Leadership School Held at Homestead Air Reserve Base

Cadet officers from the Miami Enterprise and Homestead Air Reserve Base Cadet Squadrons planned and executed a very successful Cadet Airman Leadership School over the weekend of March 3 – 4, 2012.
With team of cadet officers lead by C/Capt. Karina Hamilton of the Homestead unit, Cadet Commander; and C/2nd Lt. Manyoni Dominguez of the Miami Springs Optimist Cadet Squadron, Deputy Cadet Commander, the activity was supported by seniors, Lt. Col. Gilbert Aguiar, project officer, and Capt. Miami Springs Optimist Cadet Sqdn Mitchell Awards Presentation

3/1/2012 - Miami Springs , FL. -- Three Cadets from the Miami Springs Optimist Cadet Sqdn. were presented with the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award. Cadets Jonathan Garcia, Sebastian Ramirez and Manyoni Domniguez were promoted to the rank of Cadet 2d Lieutenant. Awards were presented by Group 7 commander Maj. Henry Irizarry and Maj Rey Lopez, both former Mitchell recipients themselves. Presentation ceremony was headlined by Miami Springs Mayor Zavier Garcia.

Continental U.S. Southernmost unit Chartered as Key West Composite Squadron - JUN 2011

6/4/2011 - Key West, FL. -- Florida Wing has a new Civil Air Patrol unit and it happens to be the Continental U.S. Southernmost Squadron - Key West Composite Squadron. With a new Commander, 11 Senior Members and 8 Cadets the unit is rapidly growing. A small chartering ceremony led by Group 7 Commander, Maj Henry Irizarry was held on Saturday, June 4th and attended by all unit members and some Group 7 Staff. The unit has been well received by the "Conch Republic" community and already has offers of support from local businesses and organizations. To celebrate the chartering, the Squadron cadets participated in their first Orientation Flights.

Group VII coordinates O-rides out of TMB airport - MAY 2011

5/7/2011 - TMB Airport, FL. -- Cadets from the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. conducted their first Orientation Ride aboard a CAP C-172 out of Tamiami Airport. Most of the participant Cadets had never flown in an aircraft before, and here they were flying at the controls for their first ride! Pilots Lt. Nick Rios, Capt. Peter Godoy and Capt. James Carraway volunteered their time and expertise to make this a surely unforgettable experience for these young minds. Event was a total success and the Cadets enjoyed and learned tremendously. Many thanks to Capt. Carraway who coordinated the activity and to the Pilots involved as well.

Miami Beach Cadet at the Titusville County Airshow - March 2011

3/11/2011 - Titusville, FL. -- Members of the Miami Beach Cadet Sqdn. attended the Titusville County Airshow held over the weekend of March 11-13, 2011. The show included the walking of the flightline, where Cadets were able to meet up close with aviation classics such as a B-25 Mitchell, a P51D Mustang, a P-47 Thunderbolt, an F-86 Sabre, a MiG-15, an A-10 Thunderbolt II, an F-14 Tomcat and many many others. Active flight participants included an F-15 and A-10 demonstration teams, three B-25s, and even a fly-by of a B2 Spirit. Cadets got to talk with many of the show performers and meet with other local CAP members at the activity as well.

Maj Lou Nunez, Group 7 Safety Officer was recently honored at the Florida's Governors Mansion as the Featured Artist during the National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. His work was also recently featured at the National Park Service website.
